Biomedical engineering is a new, rapidly expanding interdisciplinary non-medical field that combines engineering, physical, mathematical, biological and medical approaches. In today's modern era, the demands on the quality of human life and health are constantly increasing. Thanks to the advances in science and research, modern technologies are constantly being developed and new breakthroughs are being made not only in the field of biomedicine. Biomedical engineering contributes in no small way to the development of medical science and medical technology. This field belongs to one of the most promising professional scientific research directions in the world. Currently, VŠB - TUO is one of four universities in the Czech Republic that offers this accredited study programme.

We are an innovative branch of the University of Mining focused on the possibilities of technology in practical applications of medicine. Biomedical Engineering (Ing)

It is a master's degree programme with a long tradition at VŠB - TU Ostrava, which represents a combination of engineering applications in medicine and biology. The study prepares versatile graduates for a career as technicians working in medical institutions or companies dealing with medical technology.
