Activities after school, now also online

8. 9. 2025 News
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VSB-TUO has long supported young technical talents through extracurricular clubs. Until now, these activities have only taken place on campus, but starting this year, we are opening online clubs for high school students, making it possible for participants from all over the Czech Republic to join.

Our clubs have a long tradition at the faculty. Their participants regularly compete in prestigious competitions, including international ones, where they achieve outstanding results.
“Thanks to the online format, students outside of Ostrava can now join our clubs starting in September. We want to make technical education accessible to young people across the Czech Republic while also giving them enjoyable and practical experiences that will help them grow,” says Zdeněk Macháček from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

What do we offer online?
Programming in Python – learn to work with one of today’s most popular programming languages

  • In ten online workshops, you will master programming basics, create your own game, and work on personal projects.

Dates: September 23, 2025 – February 12, 2026 (every two weeks, Tuesdays, 17:00–19:00)

Introduction to Microcontrollers (Arduino UNO) – get to know the Arduino platform and learn how to create simple prototypes in the Tinkercad simulation environment

  • In ten online workshops, you will combine programming with electronics and build functional prototypes.

Dates: September 16, 2025 – February 17, 2026 (every two weeks, Tuesdays, 17:00–19:00)

Each lesson consists of three parts:

  • Theoretical preparation for self-study at home
  • Online lecture with an instructor (60 minutes)
  • Project work with the possibility of consultations (60 minutes)

The program takes place entirely online, with no need to travel to the university. Participation is free of charge for students of the Junior University!
