The renovation took place in several stages. First, four new server cabinets were purchased, as well as UTP and optical cables, which ensure faster and more reliable data transfer.
"We then added new computers and monitors to the laboratory, on which we installed the Linux operating system with read-only filesystem support. Then we purchased new routers and switches," said Pavel Nevlud from the Department of Telecommunications Engineering.
The EB215 laboratory is available to all students interested in network technologies. It will be used both for teaching and for bachelor's and master's theses.
Staff and students from the Communication and Information Technology program, as well as students from the Secondary Technical School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics in Ostrava, who participated in the project as part of their professional practice, were involved in the preparation and commissioning of the laboratory.
