Professor Alexa is one of the leading experts in theoretical and applied nuclear physics in areas such as nuclear models, nuclear reactions and nuclear astrophysics, applications of nuclear physics in medicine, biological effects of ionizing radiation, neutron activation analysis, gamma spectrometry, and explosives detection.

He also played a significant role in acquiring the underground seismic laboratory at the Johann Palisa Planetarium and converting it into a modern laboratory for neutron activation analysis and gamma-ray spectrometry.

His publications, international cooperation, and systematic work with students confirm his outstanding professional level and significant contribution to the scientific community, the faculty, and the entire university.
