Student award goes to FEECS

MUDr. Bc. Matěj Šňupárek achieved significant success with his contribution focusing on the issue of adaptive acquisition of k-space in magnetic resonance imaging using reinforcement learning. In his work, he proposed an intelligent system for active acquisition of MR data, which adaptively decides during measurement which data are key to maintaining the diagnostic quality of the image. For his innovative approach, he won first place – the Student Award, which is awarded based on a vote by all conference participants.

The second representative of the faculty was Magdaléna Hřišková, who presented work focused on the use of deep learning for the automatic detection of optical discs in retinal images. Her work focuses on the development of a fast and reliable AI model that serves as a key step for the subsequent automatic analysis of retinal pathologies, especially in retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). The results show the potential to significantly speed up screening and reduce the burden on doctors when evaluating ophthalmological images.

The conference focuses on current research in medical imaging, artificial intelligence, and advanced computational methods in medicine, and has long connected the academic sphere with clinical practice. The students' success confirms the high professional level of study at FEI and the faculty's significant involvement in research into modern technologies in the field of medical imaging and artificial intelligence.
