Thanks to the involvement of employees, the raffle raised CZK 26,000, which the faculty increased by another CZK 10,000. The total donation of CZK 36,000 was handed over to representatives of Charity Ostrava.
"We are pleased that, as a faculty, we can contribute to providing dignified care and support to people in the most difficult moments of their lives. And we greatly appreciate the willingness of our employees to get involved and help where it is needed," said Faculty Dean Radek Martinek at the check presentation.
The donation will be used to finance the St. Christopher Mobile Hospice, which provides round-the-clock care to patients in their home environment. "We want to enable the sick to live out the end of their lives with dignity, without unnecessary pain and in the familiar environment of their home, with the support of their families," said Martin Pražák, director of Charity Ostrava, thanking everyone who supported the hospice.
During a joint meeting with representatives of the charity and the faculty, a discussion on further cooperation was also opened. Interesting opportunities are emerging, particularly in the field of biomedicine and assistive technologies, i.e., technical solutions that support the self-sufficiency, safety, and quality of life of seniors and people with disabilities and can also be beneficial for the services that Charita Ostrava has been providing for a long time.
