Lighting Technology: Electric Light Emitted into Outdoor Spaces
Assoc. Prof. Novák’s research focuses on quantifying light pollution emitted into the night sky. The findings are applied across various disciplines. These include, for example, the design of new architectural complexes (minimizing light entering living spaces), astronomical calculations (data for calculating the brightness of the night sky), and ecology (the impact of large light sources on fauna and flora). In the context of nighttime lighting, his research also focuses on ensuring visibility—and thus safety—not only in nighttime traffic environments but also within critical infrastructure (electric power transmission stations).

Magnetization Processes of Ultra-High Coercive Magnetic Systems – Technology, Characterization, and Simulations
The habilitation thesis deals with the development and study of magnetic materials with exceptionally high coercivity, i.e., high resistance to demagnetization. It focuses on the technologies for their preparation, the characterization of their structure and magnetic properties, and computer simulations of magnetization processes. The research combines an experimental approach with numerical modeling and contributes to a deeper understanding of the relationships between a material’s structure and its resulting magnetic properties.
