Network technologies and applications

The current research focus is closely linked to our research projects and teaching activities. For individual areas, we secure funding both from institutional sources and from projects we submit. Below is an example of securing funding in the field of quantum key distribution and quantum communication:

  • H2020 OPENQKD (2019-2023) - research on quantum key distribution (QKD) and application cases
  • HORIZON QUESTING (2025-2029) - research on new approaches to post-processing in QKD
  • NATO QUANTUM5 (2021-2024) - implementation of QKD in 5G campus networks
  • NESPOQ MVČR (2021-2025) - combination of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and QKD, development of a QKD simulator and emulation of post-processing in QKD networks

Research topics:

The research group focuses on many areas of networks such as:

  • Quantum key distribution and quantum communication
  • Cybersecurity and network security
  • Software-defined networks and network function virtualization
  • Ad hoc networks, especially MANET/VANET
  • Channel modeling, network traffic simulation and queuing theory
  • Wireless sensor networks
  • QoS and QoE
  • Big data in networks, data processing and interpretation
  • Image and speech processing
