Sensors, testing, measurement, and signal processing

The research group focuses on the measurement and evaluation of physical signals that represent quantities in laboratory, biological, or industrial processes. We cover the entire measurement chain – from the original electrical or non-electrical physical quantity, through its conversion into a measurable electrical signal, digitization, data transmission, application of advanced signal processing methods such as adaptive filtering, signal extraction, classification of phenomena contained in signals using artificial intelligence methods, and the clear presentation of results. We address similar challenges in the field of optical inspection of products as well as image data processing in industry or medicine. A separate area of our work involves systems related to smart building automation.

Research topics:

  • Automated measurement and testing systems for laboratories and industry.
  • Signal processing, adaptive filter design, software-defined radio.
  • Camera systems for optical inspection in laboratories and industry, including image data processing.
  • Measurement, processing, and classification of medical signals and images.
  • Application of artificial intelligence methods to classification tasks in industry and medicine.
  • Smart building automation technologies.
