Electrical power engineering and design

The research activities focus on current issues in the field of production, distribution, storage, and consumption of electrical energy. They address the diagnostics and reliability of power equipment, lighting systems, control and security of smart buildings, and the effects of harmonic distortions in voltage and current waveforms. Research is also carried out on electrical machines and instruments, as well as on magnetic fields in electric traction.

Research topics:

  • Electricity accumulation
  • Biogas and hydrogen technologies
  • Power plants and alternative sources
  • Electric light and heat
  • Smart building control and security
  • Energy flow control in Off-GRID systems
  • Protection in SMART GRIDS
  • Research into new methods for detecting faults in medium-voltage networks
  • Quality, reliability, and RCM in electrical power engineering
  • Optimization of electrical network operation
  • Electrical power engineering for electric traction, modeling of stray currents
