Magnetic properties of materials

The aim of the research group is to study the surface and bulk magnetic properties of materials currently used in various technical applications. For this purpose, appropriate measurement techniques are available, including vibrating sample magnetometry, magneto-optical ellipsometry and microscopy, atomic and magnetic force microscopy, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The experimental data obtained are compared with suitable theoretical models used to describe diamagnetic, paramagnetic, and ferro-/ferrimagnetic materials.

Research topics:

Study of magnetic properties of materials using the following techniques:

  • Magneto-optical spectral ellipsometry
  • Magneto-optical Kerr magnetometry
  • Magneto-optical Kerr's microscopy
  • AFM/MFM microscopy with the possibility of measurement in an external magnetic field
  • Vibrating sample magnetometry
  • Hystergraph for measuring hard magnetic materials
  • Mössbauer spectroscopy
