Czech academic and industrial delegation achieves success in Mexico with active participation of FEECS, VSB-TUO
In the week from 15 to 19 April 2024, the Czech delegation led by Edvard Kozusnik, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, held a series of successful meetings and presentations at leading Mexican universities and research institutions.

Prof. Ivan Zelinka from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of VSB-TU Ostrava gave a lecture at the National Polytechnic Institute, ESCOM (Mexico City) on the topic "Heavenly Intelligence: from Quantum Circuits to Galactic Games". The talk was an extraordinary success, which was confirmed by more than an hour-long discussion with the audience and the interest of the Czech Embassy, which reported about it on its social media. Furthermore, in collaboration with Dr. Genaro Juárez Martínez from the Laboratory of Computational Sciences, collaboration in research, student exchange, research and publications was discussed and set up.

In Guadalajara, a successful meeting at CINVESTAV and a visit to Intel's research and development center, the only one of its kind in South America, took place. At the Jalisco Innovation Day event, strategies and opportunities for mutual cooperation were presented to the Czech Republic, further strengthening relations between the Czech Republic and the State of Jalisco.

The presentation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and its teaching and research activities was one of the key moments of the meeting, which led to personal meetings with leading Mexican experts in the field of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and quantum computing. These meetings resulted in an agreement to actively collaborate.

The mission ended with a meeting with the Secretary of Innovation, Science and Technology of the State of Jalisco, A. Pompa Padilla, where the possibilities of cooperation between VŠB-TU Ostrava and research and educational institutions in Guadalajara were discussed.

This mission confirmed the important position of VŠB-TUO as an internationally recognized educational and research centre and its commitment to strengthening academic relations between the Czech Republic and Mexico.
