Title
Kvazijednomódová optická vlákna pro telekomunikace a distribuované vláknově optické senzory
Code
GA102/07/1399
Summary
The goal of the proposed project is to design and experimentally verify novel concept of fiber optic structures suitable for data transmission at the telecommunication wavelengths 1310 nm and/or 1550 nm and simultaneously capable of continuous distributed temperature sensing at the wavelength 850 nm whose properties (attenuation and dispersion) will allow their implementation into existing data transmission network (LAN, MAN). Different structures (refractive-index profiles of core and optical cladding) of the proposed “quasi single-mode fiber” will be designed on the basis of differential mode attenuation analysis and of intermodal coupling analysis of limited set of modes at the wavelength 850 nm and will be experimentally tested with the aim to maximize their temperature sensitivity. Data transmission network employing the proposed kind of fibers will allow unlimited data transmission and simultaneously will be suitable for the detection of external temperature. The described principle can be consecutively utilized for fire risk prevention.
