Summary
Complex cyber-physical and information systems of today are increasingly characterized by the production of big data, a type of content known for its complicated structure and large volumes. An efficient processing and analysis of big data requires sophisticated new methods. Data mining is a multi-disciplinary problem that has been already addressed by a variety of hybrid methods based e.g. on the merger of bio-inspired computing, artificial neural networks, and fuzzy systems. The proposed project will focus on the research of new methods for big data analysis and mining. The goals of the proposed project include design, description, and thorough evaluation of novel hybrid, multi-paradigm, data analysis and mining methods based on the latest theoretical and practical advances from the related areas of information processing (e.g. information retrieval, fuzzy systems, soft computing, bio--inspired computing, parallel computing). The project extends previous research of the applicant and his potsdoctoral work at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada (01/2014-12/2014)
