FELAPO 2024!

FELAPO 2024!
Last week, the FEECS management met with the heads of electrical engineering faculties, technical colleges and universities of the Czech Republic and Slovakia in Demänovská Dolina, Slovakia. This year's 34th edition was associated with the signing of the "Alliance for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science".

Sixteen Czech and Slovak electrical engineering and IT faculties founded the Alliance for Electrical Engineering and Informatics (Alliance) on Wednesday 15 May. The Alliance is headed by the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FEL ZČU), Zdeněk Peroutka.

The vision of the Alliance is to define and implement a common and long-term strategy in the field of electrical engineering, informatics and cybernetics and to be among the world leaders in its domains of excellence, both in R&D and educational activities. Then, in collaboration with national governments and the below-mentioned partners, to ensure that Alliance members are resourced to successfully achieve this vision. It is also the intention of the Alliance to provide the necessary human resources for the application sector, which are critically lacking at present and in the near future and without which the industry will face serious existential challenges.

According to the latest statistical data, there is a shortage of more than 10 000 electrical engineering and computer science professionals in the Czech Republic and Slovakia alone. Their shortage is already paralysing and threatening the development of strategic industry. The newly established Alliance for Electrical and Computer Engineering will therefore look for ways to stimulate the interest of candidates in these fields and thus increase the number of graduates in these desirable professions.

The Alliance also aims to become a motivator for the arrival of new investors in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, thus contributing to the transfer of high technologies and the creation of new jobs for highly qualified engineers.

The founders of the Alliance are sixteen Czech and Slovak faculties working in the field of electrical engineering, computer science and cybernetics.
