The first meeting of the project team for the Research Platform for Digital Transformation and Society 5.0 took place at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of VŠB-TUO. The project is funded by the Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme (OP JAK) under the Long-term Cross-sectoral Cooperation Programme for the Ostrava ITI. It focuses on the development of technologies supporting digital transformation and energy optimization.
As part of the Math4U Supports Teachers and Students project, hundreds of interactive training games will be developed, new applied examples will be added, and methodological guides for teachers will be created.
The first guest of the new academic year was Michaela Liegertová, Vice-Dean for Development and Quality at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, who has been focusing for a long time on the use of generative AI tools in research and education.
The Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, VSB-TUO, hosted the 16th Czech-Slovak Conference Trends in Biomedical Engineering 2025, held in the picturesque Pustevny in the Beskydy Mountains. This conference is a traditional gathering of experts from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, providing a platform to share experiences in education, accreditation, as well as scientific and project activities.

At the turn of spring and summer 2016, ESPORT VSB-TUO OSTRAVA LEAGUE was established as an active association that focuses on the phenomenon of computer games and the association of people who are active in this community. One of the secondary goals is also the effort to eradicate the stereotypical negative opinion of computer games.
