FEI Academic Senate Elects New Leadership
The newly elected Academic Senate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava met for the first time in its new composition for the 2026–2029 term. At its inaugural meeting, the senators elected the new leadership.
AI to Help Improve Screening for Retinal Damage in Preterm Infants
A research team from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava has received nearly CZK 500,000 in funding from the Neoli Research pilot grant call. Led by Jan Kubíček, the project will focus on developing an artificial intelligence system for the automated analysis of retinal haemorrhages in preterm infants.
A New Academic Year Begins at FEI
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava is starting the 2026/2027 academic year. This year, 1,208 students are entering the first year of bachelor’s degree programmes, while another 436 students are beginning the first year of follow-up master’s degree programmes.

The anniversary was celebrated on 10 September with a ceremonial meeting of the FEECS Scientific Board, honouring individuals who have contributed to the Faculty’s development and reflecting on its history, present achievements and future direction.

At the turn of spring and summer 2016, ESPORT VSB-TUO OSTRAVA LEAGUE was established as an active association that focuses on the phenomenon of computer games and the association of people who are active in this community. One of the secondary goals is also the effort to eradicate the stereotypical negative opinion of computer games.
