CONREX Is One Step Closer to Space
The CONREX project, being developed by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, has reached another important milestone on its journey towards an experiment aboard the International Space Station. Thomas Peignier, a representative of the European Space Agency (ESA) responsible for overseeing the preparation of the CONREX experiment and monitoring its progress through individual development and review milestones, visited Ostrava.
Award-Winning Master's Thesis: Jiří Horák Developed an Intelligent Thermal Energy Storage Control System
The master's thesis of Jiří Horák from the Department of Power Engineering focuses on the design and implementation of a system for intelligent thermal energy storage control based on current electricity prices. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller and can autonomously schedule heating during the cheapest hours.

Award-Winning Master's Thesis: Karel Bednář Developed a Sensor for Diagnosing Faults in Induction Motors
The master's thesis of Karel Bednář from the Department of Power Engineering focuses on the design and implementation of a sensor for the non-invasive diagnosis of induction motors. The device can detect inter-turn short circuits in stator windings and will also be used in laboratory teaching.

At the turn of spring and summer 2016, ESPORT VSB-TUO OSTRAVA LEAGUE was established as an active association that focuses on the phenomenon of computer games and the association of people who are active in this community. One of the secondary goals is also the effort to eradicate the stereotypical negative opinion of computer games.
