Thirteen Czech scientific experiments, which will fly with Czech astronaut Aleš Svoboda to the International Space Station (ISS), have been selected by the European Space Agency (ESA). The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VŠB-TUO has achieved a significant success, sending two projects into space. Both experiments combine cutting-edge technologies in the fields of nanorobotics, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, and sensor technology.
How much energy does a vehicle really consume while driving, and how can this consumption be accurately determined for different types of propulsion systems? This was the focus of the master’s thesis by Ing. Tomáš Kapusňák, a recent graduate of the Computer Science master’s program at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Matej Šturek, a student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, took part in the ČEZ FVE Hackathon – Photovoltaic Academy. The event offered students from technical universities practical training in photovoltaics, excursions to major energy facilities, and collaboration in international teams.
Nearly thirty teams of high school students from the Moravian-Silesian Region took part in the second annual Ostrava Game Jam 2025, the largest regional competition in computer game development. Over two days, they had to create a functional prototype of a game on a given theme.

At the turn of spring and summer 2016, ESPORT VSB-TUO OSTRAVA LEAGUE was established as an active association that focuses on the phenomenon of computer games and the association of people who are active in this community. One of the secondary goals is also the effort to eradicate the stereotypical negative opinion of computer games.
